The Editorial Board / Gennady Savin

Gennady Savin is one of the leading experts in the field of creating complex modeling systems and design automation. He made a significant contribution to the development of the theory and practice of complex organizational and technical system simulation, to the development of supercomputer systems and computing, to the development of scientific telecommunications and digital information resources. Gennady Savin is the Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor, Dr.Sc. (Physics and Mathematics), the Chairman of the Scientific Council of RAS “High-performance computing systems, scientific communications and information infrastructure”, the Editor-in-Chief of the journal “Software & Systems”, the member of the editorial board of the journal “Doklady Akademii Nauk”. He is the author of more than 90 scientific papers including monographs.


  • 1971 – graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (Department of Control and Applied Mathematics),
  • 1971-1987 – worked in Dorodnicyn Computing Centre, RAS
  • 1987-1999 – a Deputy Academician Secretary of the Department of Informatics, Computer Science and Automation.
  • 1999-2018 – an organizer and director of the Interdepartmental Supercomputer Center of RAS.
  • 2018 - present – academic adviser of the Interdepartmental Supercomputer Center of RAS.

The main scientific results

  • developing a complex of mathematical models describing the interaction of systems of discrete dynamic objects in conflict situations;
  • developing aggregating methods for mathematical models describing the systems of dynamic objects;
  • developing building principles of multi-purpose research systems for analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of engineering product complexes;
  • developing instrumental systems to support a decision-making process while forming the functional appearance of complex engineering products and their management;
  • creating an automated system for analysis and synthesis of complex organizational and technical systems;
  • forming and implementing the conceptual framework for constructing supercomputer systems, computing and communication, information environment for scientific and educational purposes;
  • building the principles for the formation and use of the electronic library “Russian Scientific Heritage”.
